How to Store Trazodone Safely

Practical storage guidance to keep trazodone effective and safely out of reach of others.

Editorially reviewed
Key points
  • Room temperature, away from humidity and light
  • Bathroom cabinets are often not ideal due to humidity
  • Keep in original container, secured from children and pets

Store trazodone tablets at controlled room temperature (roughly 68–77°F / 20–25°C), away from excess heat, humidity, and direct light — a bathroom medicine cabinet is often not ideal because of humidity from showers. Keep tablets in their original, labeled container, tightly closed.

Because trazodone is a prescription medication with real sedative and other effects, store it securely out of reach of children, pets, and anyone it wasn't prescribed for. If you have unused medication, see our guidance on safe disposal rather than keeping it indefinitely or throwing it in household trash unaltered.
