QT prolongation

Also called: QTc prolongation

A lengthening of the QT interval on an electrocardiogram (ECG), which can, in rare cases, increase the risk of a dangerous heart rhythm called torsades de pointes.

Trazodone has been associated with QT prolongation, particularly at higher doses, in combination with other QT-prolonging drugs, or in people with existing heart rhythm risk factors. This is one reason prescribers ask about heart history and other medications before starting trazodone.
